Margao: The annual zatrotsav of Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin Sansthan,
Fatorpa, will be held from December 19 to December 22. Various religious and cultural activities will be held during the four-day event.
Stating that preparations were under way to ensure the success of this traditional festival, president of the executive committee of Shantadurga Bhoomipurush Saptakoteshwar Sansthan, Dilkhush Dessai, informed media persons that the deity's procession in silver chariot (chandi rath), peacock chariot (mayor rath), sun chariot (surya rath) and maharath will be the highlights of the event.
On December 19, while mahabhishek will be performed in the morning, the shibikotsav procession will be held at 10 pm, followed by the deity being taken in a procession in the silver chariot. Fireworks, aarti-prasad and magic show will be held thereafter. On December 20, while various religious rituals will be held in the morning, the shibikotsav procession will be held at 10 pm followed by the mayur rath procession, fireworks display and aarti-prasad. A Marathi play will be staged thereafter. On December 21, the mahabhishek will be held in the morning, and the shibikotsav procession will be held at 10 pm followed by the surya rath procession, fireworks display and aarti-prasad. A Konkani play will also be staged. On December 22 - the main day of the zatra - mahabhishek will be held in the morning, with a musical orchestra at 11 pm. The event will conclude will the deity's procession being taken out in the 'maharath' at 6 am the following day.
"All the necessary permissions have been obtained, especially from the fire services department with a fire tender as well as an ambulance to be stationed at the venue in view of the large number of participants expected to attend this event," Dessai informed.
