FORECAST IN DETAIL

Another average December day is in the cards before a warming trend takes over. Even without overwhelmingly sunny skies, we should reach the 50s tomorrow and could top 60 on Tuesday, before temperatures take a significant step backward midweek.

Today (Sunday): After a mostly sunny start to the day, clouds should increase late morning into the afternoon, as a weak system approaches the area. Areas that see clouds come in earlier could stall in the mid-40s for afternoon highs, while those that stay sunnier longer could approach 50, with light winds from the southeast. We’ll watch for the chance of a few light showers possible after about 2 to 3 p.m. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds take hold through the evening and overnight, and we could see a few more light showers pass through. We shouldn’t have to worry about anything wintry though, as lows hold up in the mid- to upper 30s, with mostly cloudy skies and light winds. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): We don’t fully clear out tomorrow, but we should see enough sun to keep temperatures on the rise. Highs reach the low to mid-50s with a milder breeze from the southwest. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Skies may trend a little clearer at times through the evening and overnight, but overall remain partly to mostly cloudy. That helps keep lows on the milder side for mid-December, in the upper 30s to low 40s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

We’ve got storminess to our north and storminess to our southwest on Tuesday. Here in between we’re left with another partly sunny day, and easily the warmest of the week, with highs heading for the upper 50s to mid-60s! Expect partly cloudy skies Tuesday night with lows in the low 40s. Confidence: Medium

A cold front drops south of the area Wednesday, dropping our temperatures 10 to 15 degrees from Tuesday. Highs top out in the mid-40s to near 50, with some gusty breezes to boot. As of now, a developing wave of low pressure looks to track south of the area Wednesday afternoon and night, but a slight adjustment north could bring the risk of some wintry precipitation. Confidence: Low-Medium
