Student goes viral over boyfriend mix-up

A COLLEGE student has been hailed on social media for her strict loyalty to the "girl code" when she warned an online acquaintance about a potential cheating boyfriend.

Although the two University of Texas at San Antonio students didn't know each other, they had mutually followed each other on Twitter for a while when Jasmine received a message from Rebekah.

"Hey girl, I know we don't know each other, just been mutuals on twitter for little bit. I go to UTSA too," Rebekah wrote.

"But I recognise who I think is your boyfriend in the library from all y'all pictures on here and he's with a girl and he's being kind of touchy with her."

Explaining that she had once been cheated on and "girl to girl" she would want to know, she sent pictures of the alleged cheater with another girl.

She even offered to confront the pair if Jasmine wanted her too.

"Tell me if you want me to fight him I'll be here for a while," she joked.

Luckily, it didn't come to fist fights because it turns out it wasn't Jasmine's boyfriend after all. It was all a hilarious misunderstanding.

"Omg thank you for telling me girl but that is not my boyfriend! He has an identical twin brother," Jasmine replied.

"That's his brother in the picture and that's his gf [girlfriend]."

Jasmine shared the exchange on Twitter where it has gone viral. At the time of writing the tweet had been shared more than 44,000 times and liked more than 242,000 times - and girls all over the internet have praised Rebekah.

"If you're not here for me like Rebekah was there for Jasmine then I don't need you in my life," one fellow female wrote.
