Billy Joe Saunders puts his WBO middleweight title on the line against David Lemieux

Saunders put his WBO middleweight belt on the line tonight for the third time.

He has been frustrated in his attempts to land an opportunity against the top names in his division and he has recently admitted he fell out of love with the sport.

But he comes up against Lemieux this evening, a fighter who went eight rounds with Gennady Golovkin in 2015 for the IBF middleweight title and has won 33 of his 41 fights by knockout.

The Canadian is known for being a power puncher while Saunders has only won 12 of his 25 fights by knockout.

However, Saunders is yet to taste defeat in his eight-year career as a professional.

And Fury believes the Hertfordshire-born boxer will have too much in the tank in the closing stages for Lemieux to win.

“He’s doing really well at the moment,” Fury told BT Sport.

“He’s coming into the fight on form, match fit and that’s the biggest asset a fighter could ever take into the ring.

“Lemieux is a good puncher but he has slow feet.

“I see Lemieux lunging forward all night and Billy Joe countering and I see a points victory for Saunders.”
