(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muscat- Haya Water is implementing 18 projects worth RO500mn in Muscat governorate as part of its plans to keep pace with expansion of urban areas. Addressing a press meet last week, Eng Hussain bin Hassan AbdulHussain, CEO of Haya Water spoke about the projects being executed.
Bausher
There are three main projects being executed at a cost of RO64mn. One of the projects is the expansion of Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant (second phase), which aims to increase the capacity to 125,000 m3 per day by the end of this year.In addition, there is also the north and south of Al Khuwayr Area Project (B3b) which aims to have a 34km long wastewater network, 11km long treated wastewater network and a 40km fibre optic network. It will cater to about 2,650 housing units and governmental and commercial entities and is expected to be over in the first quarter of 2018.
Seeb
Four projects are under implementation in the Seeb area. The most important is the wastewater networks in the coastal areas of Seeb (C3) using the vacuum technology at 11 stations and a 565km wastewater network.It connects 8,714 housing units and governmental and commercial establishments. An additional 474 housing units and governmental and commercial establishments will be connected in the second quarter of 2018.
In addition, the project includes a 36km treated wastewater network and a 561km fibre optic network. The project is expected to be over in the second quarter of 2018.Package one (C6) project covers the areas of Ma'abela and Al Khoudh 6. It consists of a 105km wastewater network to connect approximately 3,500 residential units and commercial and governmental facilities to the main Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Seeb. In addition, there is also a 65km fibre optic network. The project is expected to be over in the first quarter of 2019.
Package two (C7) project covers Ma'abela, Al Khoudh, Al Hail and Mawaleh. It consists of a 230km network to connect around 7,200 housing units, commercial and governmental facilities to the main STP in Seeb.There is also a fibre optic network with a total length of 230km. This project is expected to be completed in June 2019.
Amerat
Currently, there is an STP that is located in the Al Mahaj area of the wilayat and a wastewater network serving about 640 housing units and government and commercial establishments.Due to the population growth, Haya Water as part of its master plan is working on the wastewater project which comprises three wastewater networks, an STP and pumping stations.
One of the most important projects is the STP (A1) project which will have a capacity of 18,000m3 per day in the first phase. The project is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2019.The Western Area (A2) project includes the construction of 240km of main wastewater networks, transmission and distribution networks of treated wastewater with a length of 8.5km, and a 265km fibre optic cable network. When completed, the project will serve more than 4,139 housing units and governmental and commercial facilities. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
The Northern Area (A3) project consists of 145km of main wastewater networks and 16km of treated wastewater networks. In addition, there is a 182km fibre optic cable network.The project will serve approximately 2,200 housing units and a governmental and commercial establishments. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
The Eastern Area (A4) project consists of 65km of wastewater networks and 9.6km treated wastewater networks, in addition to 82km of fibre optic cable network. The project will serve about 3,500 housing units and governmental and commercial establishments. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.Muttrah
Among the projects implemented are:
Construction of wastewater networks project in Coastal Darsait, Wadi Kabir, Hamriya and the replacement of the wastewater line in Ruwi.The wastewater network is 154km and the fibre optic network 127km long. This project serves about 3,608 residential units and governmental and commercial establishments. A total of 1,248 units are already connected and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Construction of STP in Darsait: A modern STP with the latest technologies for wastewater treatment and odour control is currently under construction with a capacity of 37,000m3 per day and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
