NY party mode on! Chill, the Pune Police has your back
2017 is drawing to a close and it's time to welcome the New Year amidst celebration. As the party season is all set to begin, the checklist of after-party precautionary measures has also been doing the rounds. Moreover, this time around, you can party hard without having to worry much as the Pune Police has your back!

The city police force is taking all steps to ensure that the no untoward incidences take place during and after the NY parties in town. Considering the changing party scenario of the city and new party hubs, the police have started planning well in advance for the party week. "Along with the regular critical points across the city, patrolling will be done in additional locations," informs Ravindra Kadam, Joint commissioner, Pune police.

However, they have a word of caution. "The traffic police will be vigilant so we suggest party-goers shouldn't drink and drive. It's for their safety only," adds Kadam. According to the authorities, there will be over 6000 police personnel in action during the last week of 2017.

Rashmi Shukla, Commissioner, Pune Police, had visited many party hotspots last year and interacted with partygoers. While telling them to party hard, she had also asked them to not drink and drive. Speaking to us, she adds, "This time, we are requesting all women to register for the #CitySafe app which they can use in case of emergency. Just one click on the emergency button will alert the police control room and help will be sent immediately."

Partygoers who have used the app have found it to be helpful. Shruti Shetty, a model, says, "In Pune, you keep attending parties at different places through a night. In such cases, the police help in keeping us safe. I think every woman should download the app."

All in all, Puneites are keeping their worries aside and utilising the time to plan the big day "December 31 being one of the biggest and craziest party nights of the year, we friends are really excited for it and have already started planning," says Purva Shinde, a partygoer.
