Philodendron

Breathing right is not just enough for the people living in metro cities like Delhi that have no scarcity of pollution, we need to breathe the air that is clean. Though you can’t do anything about the outdoor pollution, you can assure healthy surroundings in your home at least, by opting for plants that purify air.
There is a whole range available in the market.

Bamboo plant

The first to start with is bamboo plant. It acts as an air regulator by filtering out airborne toxins, such as carbon dioxide, formaldehyde and benzene. You can grow it in water as well as soil, but make sure you keep it away from direct sunlight. And don’t forget to remove dead leaves regularly.

Anthurium is another purifier plant, which bears bright red flowers. A half-and-half mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite provides the perfect kind of soil for this plant to grow. Anthurium plants don’t like continually moist soil. Their dark leaves suck up ammonia, formaldehyde, toluene and xylene from the air.
Another member of the air-purifying range is the NASA-recommended Old Ficus bonsai plant. The ficus genus is the most popular indoor tree species for beginners. Bonsai can help you get over a cold.

Successfully growing a bonsai tree leaves you with a great sense of accomplishment, which is very good for health.

Last but the most benefitting one is Philodendron. It absorbs toxins, such as nitrogen oxides and formaldahyde. Set the plant in a location with bright, indirect sunlight.

To promote usage of these plants at home and offices, Nurturing Green has come up with the concept of ‘gift a plant’.

Annu Grover, MD, Nurturing Green, says, “We are practically breathing poison. With Air Quality Index going above 500 and indoors having two times pollutants, we are always at the risk of diseases. These plants absorb harmful gases like xylene, benzene and CO2 to bring freshness indoors. And, nothing serves as a better option for air-purifiers as these nature-gifted exotic plants do.”

Plants are also available at their website: www.nurturinggreen.in
