PATNA: Three persons, including two minors, died while another was seriously injured after a sand-laden truck dashed against an autorickshaw from behind on NH-98 near Saidabad under the Rania Talab police station area on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shakti Kumar (10), his brother Vishal (13) and Kalim Ansari (30). Shakti and Vishal belonged to Saidabad while Kalim was a native of Kaab village under the Rania Talab police station area. The injured was identified as Zafeer Ansari (35), brother of Kalim. He is undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Paliganj ASP Manoj Kumar Pandey said the truck was going toward Patna while the four inside the autorickshaw were travelling to neighbouring village. "The truck, after hitting the three-wheeler, pushed it for several metres. Local people caught hold of the truck driver, but he later escaped," the ASP said. He also said the sand was loaded at Kaab.
Rania Talab police station SHO Mukesh Sharma said the three-wheeler was purchased by Kalim just three days back. "He was driving it when the
accident took place," the SHO said. The postmortem of Shakti and Vishal was conducted at Paliganj hospital while Kalim body was brought to PMCH for autopsy. All three bodies were handed over to their family members, he said.
