OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man was shot to death Saturday morning in East Oakland, police said.
The man’s name was not released pending notification of family. Police said he lived in Oakland.
Police found the man dead from a gunshot wound about 2:18 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of Foothill Boulevard after getting a call from someone driving by who saw him lying on the pavement.
Police said it appears the man was shot after getting into a confrontation with another person on the street who fled before police arrived..
Police have not determined a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
The killing is the 71st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year and the third since Thursday night in East Oakland, none of which are related. Last year at this time police had investigated 79 homicides in the city.
