Improving the agriculture sector and rural economy are on the priority list of the Union government, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Saturday.
Speaking at an event organised jointly by APRACA and NABARD here, Mr Jaitley said improving irrigation facilities, electrifying every household by 2018, providing better connectivity and conducting a sanitation programme on largescale in rural areas of the country were the core objectives of the government.
It is essential for every society to provide food at affordable prices to people and ensure that agriculture community get their dues, he added.
Around 79 international participants from the APRACA member institutions from 22 countries and about 40 participants from India attended the forum meet. It was jointly organized by APRACA & NABARD.
