Mauricio Pochettino will encourage his players to celebrate if they beat Man City

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho sparked a huge bust-up following City’s loud celebrations after last weekend’s win at Old Trafford.

But Pochettino revealed his players would let their hair down and savour their moment glory if they wreck Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten league record at the Etihad.

Pochettino said: “I’m not going to talk about what happened between Manchester United and Manchester City.

“Only I want to tell you, when we won our games - especially at Huddersfield and after the game against Stoke - the players put on music and it was so loud.

“It’s normal, if you lose the game, you are not going to put on music.

“You are going to the changing room, and your shower, and you want to go quickly back home.

“But because they are winning, winning, winning, it’s normal they put music in the changing-room and I wish it will be us doing it!”

Pochettino also suggested Mourinho had got it all wrong in his reaction to City’s post-match celebrations.

The Argentinian says the dressing room noises should have acted as motivation to ensure there was not repeat.

He added: “I’m never going to complain if another team celebrates because sometimes it’s good when you lose and you hear all that happens in another changing-room. You then feel the pain.”

Two seasons ago, Spurs finished four points ahead of City and then a year later extended the gap to eight.

But the Londoners have struggled to repeat that dominance after relocating to Wembley.

After 17 games this campaign, fourth-placed Spurs find themselves already trailing free-scoring City by a mammoth 18 points.

Peo Guardiola has guided Man City to a record-breaking 15 successive wins

Pochettino admitted Guardiola’s stars have got something special about them this time.

He added: “I agree there is an aura about them. We felt the same last season at White Hart Lane – that something special seemed to happen around the team.

A player a week or two ago said, ‘Wow, I remember last season, we always start 1-0 up at White Hart Lane because something special was happening’.

“It was tough to play against us. But now, of course, City are doing fantastic.

“The respect of the opponents and everyone for them is massive. But in the end, we’re going to fight, to kill them and try to win.

“It’s going to be a fight between 11 players on the pitch, with a similar philosophy - both teams always trying to play, going forward, attacking football.

“And, in the end, it’s about quality and something happening for you. Always in football, you need a percentage of luck to win.

“But of course, they are doing so well. It’s so important to give all the credit to the players and to the manager, of course.”
