Hey there! This is Nishant Kumar with ETMarkets special weekend podcast. I am back with our special weekend podcast on mid and smallcap stocks.

The second rung stocks continued to outperform largecaps in 2017. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap index soared over 35 per cent this calendar year. On the other hand, Sensex advanced 25 per cent.

Over 20 stocks from the mid and smallcap space more than doubled investors’ wealth in 2017 with Indiabulls Ventures surging over 1,000 per cent, followed by Rain Industries (up 566 per cent) and Avanti Feeds (up 419 per cent).

Dilip Buildcon, VIP Industries, Bombay Burmah, Vakrangee, Indiabulls Real Estate, Radico Khaitan, Dwean Housing Finance, Tata Global and Jindal Steel also spurted between 100 per cent and 300 per cent in 2017.

Overall market sentiment remained bullish on account of robust liquidity in the market and victory of the BJP in India’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh.

We have AK Prabhakar, Head of Research, IDBI Capital markets with us to share his views on how markets are going to behave in 2018, and which mid and smallcap stocks are looking attractive for the New Year.

Byte 1: AK Prabhakar

We also have Sumeet Bagadia of Choice Equity Broking with us. Over to you Mr Bagadia.

Byte 2: Sameet Bagadia

That’s it in this week’s edition of special weekend podcast. Do come back next Saturday for this weekly special. You can check out our regular podcasts on the equity market twice every week day.
