PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told Goa legislative assembly on Friday that a total 32.29 million tonnes of ore was extracted during the period between September 2015 and October 2017.

A total of 17.64 million tonnes of ore was exported for the same period.

The question was tabled by Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate. Parrikar, who also hold mines portfolio, in a written reply, told the House that as many as 52 mining leases re-started their operation in the state.

After amalgamation of leases, the number of operational mines reduced to 44 leases, said Parrikar, responding to the question.
