Lone Peak police officers found a body in a car that had crashed into the American Fork River near the mouth of the American Fork Canyon.

The only person in the car, 23-year-old Nickolas Thayne, had been reported missing from Pleasant Grove earlier in the day Thursday. Police found the crashed car at 10:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Investigators said Friday they were working to determine the cause of the crash.
