Nagpur: Solutions which can lead to
savings of Rs42 crore for Ordnance Factory Board (
OFB) were presented during a total productive maintenance (
TPM) meet, at National Academy of Defence Production (
NADP) here. The two-day meet concludes on Saturday.
SK Chourasia, director general of OFB, said efforts should be taken to practically implement the solutions so they actually lead to savings.
An annual event held at NADP, this was the 12th TPM meet for involvement of engineers and workers to bring solutions to day to day hassles in the production process. In ordnance factories, many such solutions help substitute imports.
During the current TPM, solutions that could save up to Rs42 crore were presented, said a source. NADP is the training centre for officers of the Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS) cadre.
Sources said lately OFB has made it a policy to follow up the solutions presented at TPM meets. Last year, solutions for saving Rs37 crore were presented. A source said each of the papers have been put up before the OFB, which is following up its implementation.
The first prize went to Ordnance Factory Warangaon, which makes ammunition. The team from this factory came up with a fully automatized process for making anti-aircraft ammunition, which leads to minimal wastage.
