Asked to repeat her American Smooth along with professional dance partner Gorka Márquez, there was one visible change that eagle-eyed viewers spotted.

After wearing a dated character costume for her original performance of the My Fair Lady inspired dance, for tonight’s final her outfit was changed to a glamorous red dress - without the restrictive hat and coat.

As most of the other contestants wore the same outfits from their first performances, viewers instantly took to social media to point out Alexandra’s change.

One fan tweeted: “#StrictlyFinal what has happened to original American Smooth costume for Alex & Gorka?!”

“Why is Alexandra not wearing her costume from that dance? I remember Kellie Bright had to for her Star Wars dance in the final?#StrictlyFinal,” posted another.

However, most fans were happy with the change into a less restrictive outfit.

One viewer gushed: “Luvverly opener. Better without the Mary Poppins get-up too#StrictlyFinal #scd2017 #strictly.”

“Better costume for Alexandra Burke for the My Fair Lady routine, last time she looked like the Gremlin dressed in drag,” posted another.

A third added: “Oooh they’ve changed Joe's viennese waltz shirt... and Alexandra's outfit looks different too... the things I notice.”
