Applauding the journey of Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi (IIM-R)  which started with merely 44 students on December 15, 2009, Governor, Draupadi Murmu asked the future managers to utilize their managerial skills for the betterment of society while demonstrating leadership qualities in transparent and ethical manner.

Addressing the management students of IIM-R on its 9th Foundation Day here on Friday the Governor said, “One must aim to demonstrate leadership qualities and work in an ethical and transparent manner at every stage of career and life. Success on the job should not only be how much wealth one creates but also how much one contributes towards the growth of the underprivileged people in the society.”

“IIM-R is country’s premier management institute. As the students of one of the top management institute, business graduate students must demonstrate their ideas, visions to attract more number of entrepreneurs here upholding the corporate ethics.” the Governor further added.

On the occasion, students of IIM-R were asked to live up to the expectation of the people while covering diverse sectors. From marketing tribal artifacts to studying mining policy of the State more extensively, students were asked to think differently.

Emphasizing on a few key components of Jharkhand, the mineral capital of India, Member, Board of Directors, IIM-R, Praveen Shankar Pandya asked the management students to expand their horizon of knowledge from just corporate know-how to other significant affairs of the specific region as well for longer impact considering the growth of the country.

Pandya, on the occasion said, “The idea behind expansion of government institute in each State is to explore the vital component of that particular region. The students of IIM-R must study and analysis the mining policy of the State. Jharkhand is blessed with abundance of natural resources; students must explore how mining industry is regulated here.”

Putting forward some significant questions, Pandya said, “There is a lack of mining policy, broad research can be undertaken by the management students studying here about what is lacking in our mining policy. In addition, special attention must be given on the endorsement of tribal relics here. As corporate leaders, students from across the State studying in this tribal dominant region must think about marketing of tribal artifacts. From promotion to final branding of tribal products, management students can brainstorm on such issues.”

Meanwhile, Director, IIM-R, Shailendra Singh made some major announcements besides sharing the details of the ongoing courses. “Soon IIM-R will introduce Executive Fellowship Programme designed especially for senior executives working in different sectors,” Singh said.
