
TDP, BJP groups clash at Panyam

KURNOOL: Tension prevailed at Panyam for sometime on Friday after a clash between Telugu Desam and BJP groups over construction of an ITDA building in the village. The two groups attacked each other with sticks and knives. According to police, construction work of the ITDA building costing `50 lakh was given to BJP leader and Panyam former sarpanch C Subbarayudu. When the contractor started construction work, it was stated that TDP district vice-president P Pulla Reddy sought some portion of the work contract awarded to the BJP leader. The TDP and BJP leaders were involved in a row when the latter refused to give a share in the work contract.
Following a heated arguments between the two leaders on the issue, their followers attacked each other. The police rushed to the village and brought the situation under control. Pulla Reddy was severely injured in the clash. He was shifted to Nandyal government hospital. He is said to be out of danger. Circle Inspector P Parthasarathi Reddy said 10 persons, including the BJP leader Subbarayudu, were taken into custody. A case was registered against them.
