Yogi Adityanath: Opposition was running away from political discourse

Hitting out at opposition particularly at Samajwadi Party Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that opposition was running away from political discourse because it was not keen to face the reality that previous governments had ruined the power distribution system and this government is trying to restore that.

“The government is ready for debate on any issue. I had made it clear during all party meeting that Government will encourage debate. But what has happened in last two days is not debate but a planned conspiracy to muzzle democratic system of this country,” Yogi said in Vidhan Sabha as well as in the Central Hall of the state Assembly on Friday.

“This is shameful that a handful of opposition members were trying to hold the entire house to ransom. All the 402 members of this House are answerable to people. But the way these SP members conducted themselves speak volumes about their belief in parliamentary system,” he said.

Flaying Samajwadi Party and Congress, the chief minister said that the parties which were indulging in dynastic politics were now trying to sabotage the rights of the 355-odd members who want to participate in the proceedings of the House.

CM said if the Opposition wanted a debate on hike in power rise the Government was ready. “The hike is just nominal and the government is giving better power facilities to the people in comparison to the previous governments. The government is providing electricity at the rate of Rs1.10 per unit to the rural populace despite cost of production and transmission is Rs 6.70 per unit. The rest of the amount is subsidy from the government. If a farmer operates tube well using pumping sets he spends Rs 25 per hour but in case of electricity it is just Rs 1.10 per hour,” CM said.

“The hike was nominal 80 paise to Rs 1.10 per unit but the Opposition was trying to raise an unnecessary issue. During the previous SP and BSP regimes, too, power tariff was hiked,” he said adding that Government has ensured that faulty transformers are replaced quickly.

He also attacked previous SP government for being biased in supply of electricity. We are not doing partiality. For us all the districts are VIP.  Since we came to power rural areas were being given 18 hours of electricity supply, tehsil and Bundelkhand is getting 20 hours electricity and district headquarters 24 hours.
