McKinley Wright IV, of CU puts up a shot on Tevin King and Reed Tellinghuisen, of SDSU, near the end of regulation on Dec. 15, 2017 at Coors Events Center in Boulder.

Surviving a wild back-and-forth finish, freshmen McKinley Wright and Tyler Bey played pivotal roles down the stretch for the Colorado men’s basketball team Friday night, as the Buffaloes outlasted visiting South Dakota State for a wild 112-103 win in double-overtime at the Coors Events Center.

The victory snapped a streak of three losses in four games for the Buffs (8-3).

Wright helped lead a CU rally late in the first overtime to extend the game, while Bey finally put some defensive pressure on SDSU star Mike Daum during the extra periods. Bey finished with season-high totals of 12 points and nine rebounds, scoring eight points in the second overtime.

Wright posted the first double-double of his career, recording a season-high 30 points and 11 assists. He is the first CU player to compile 11 assists in a game since Nick Mohr on Feb. 26, 2002. SDSU led by six points late in the first overtime, but two consecutive baskets by Wright followed by a fast-break layup from Deleon Brown send the game into a second extra session.

Wright, who went 9-for-10 at the free throw line, fell just one rebound short of a triple-double.
