A driver died early Saturday morning after striking several cars waiting at a red light on the Beltway 8 service road in northwest Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the service road intersection of Beltway 8 and Gessner Road, according to HSCO Deputy Troyer.

Drivers of a Toyota Camry, Toyota Sienna and a Chevy Colorado were all waiting at the intersection, when a green Buick LeSabre approached the intersection and struck the Chevy Colorado from behind.

The crash caused the Chevy Colorado to rotate into the Toyota Camry and for the Buick LeSabre to strike the back of the Toyota Sienna, according to Troyer.

The driver of the Buick LeSabre had to be cut out of car by the fire department, Troyer said.

The driver was taken to an area hospital, but later died. Troyer said all other drivers involved  appeared to be stable after the crash.
