UPDF leader killed in Rangamati 'gunfight'

A leader of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was killed in a reported gunfight in Bandukbhanga area in Sadar upazila of Rangamati district early Saturday.

Kotwali Police Station officer in-charge Satyajit Barua said deceased Anol Bikash Chakma alias Pluto Chakma, 42, was the organiser of Bandukbhanga union unit of UPDF.

Local people heard several gunshots in the dead of night, and spotted the bullet-hit body of Pluto at Dhamoirchhara in the morning, the OC added.

Being informed, police and members of Bangladesh Army visited the spot.

Earlier on December 5, another UPDF leader Anoti Ranjan Chakma was shot to death by miscreants in Bogachhori area of Naniarchar upazila, according to UNB.
