CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Fire Department said a malfunctioning pump caused an ammonia leak early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene on West Main Street around 3:30 a.m.
The first unit to arrive found no detectable reading, however, as the investigation continued, firefighters said they found a pump that was malfunctioning which caused the leak.
The pump was secured and the leak was stopped, according to firefighters.
No evacuations were necessary as a result of the leak.
There were no injuries reported, and firefighters said the situation was under control about two hours later.
