Federer has had a stunning year, winning two Grand Slams and finishing the season and world No 2 despite being 36.

He won the Australian Open and Wimbledon as he battled with Rafael Nadal at the top of the sport again.

It was a throw back year with the two greatest players of the last 10 years mixing it as the best players in the game.

But Federer doubts next year will be so successful with the Likes of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic expected back from injury.

"It will not be that good anymore,” Federer told Swiss publication SFR.

Roger Federer has been talking about next season

“I probably will not experience these emotions of 2017 any more.

“But I was always able to surprise myself over all these years, so I secretly hope that I will experience good moments again.

"I'm curious to see Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka, Nishikori and Raonic come back.

“That will have an impact. I'm assuming that one of those players will also tear up ropes.

“As a result, you also lose a game more and will thus also win one or two tournaments less.”

Federer finished the season in disappointing fashion with a knockout round defeat at the ATP Finals in London.

But it was still a year to remember and he believes he can go on a little longer with retirement not yet on his mind.

“In 10 years, I'm probably no longer there, but hopefully still a few years, who knows,” he said.
