Jaipur: The bone of contention between the state government and protesting All Rajasthan In Service Doctors Association (ARISDA) is posting of an
RAS officer on the post of additional director (gazetted). Earlier, the post was held by a doctor.
The agitating doctors claimed that the post is given to a doctor upon promotion. Recently, health minister Kalicharan Saraf had pointed out that there is no question of transferring the RAS officer as there is an investigation pending against him in a case that took place in November. The case is being investigated by principal secretary Veenu Gupta.
Apart from the RAS officer's transfer, the doctors are demanding that the orders issued by the health department for transferring 12 doctors should be withdrawn. They have also demanded that cases filed against doctors during November's agitation should be withdrawn.
ARISDA officials pointed out that the government had agreed to act on their demands and they had signed an agreement post doctors' agitation. However, no action has been taken yet. In spite of the agreement, the government is suppressing them by transfers and arrest of doctors, said Dr Ajay Chaudhary, president, ARISDA.

Doctors' bodies to boycott work from tomorrow
Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors (JARD) along with other resident doctors' associations across the state has threatened to boycott work from Monday. JARD has written to health minister Kalicharan Saraf that the agreement which was signed after doctors' agitation in November has not been fulfilled yet. They have threatened to boycott work from Monday. If the government takes suppressive action against them, they would intensify their protest. Besides, All Medical College Teachers Association has also extended support to ARISDA and appealed to the government to listen to doctors' demands and not arrest them.
