Bengaluru: 15-month-old girl falls to death from third floor

BENGALURU: A 15-month-old baby girl fell to death from the third floor of a four-storey residential building at Nayandahalli near Chandra Layout on Friday afternoon. The girl was playing outside when the incident took place and parents did not notice her, the police said.The deceased is Maitria, only daughter of Renukesh and Anitha. The couple hail from Kollegal and had come to the city three years ago.
Renukesh works in a watch showroom while Anitha is a homemaker.

A senior police officer said the incident occurred around 12.30pm.  Maitria was playing at the door while her mother Anitha went to the kitchen to attend to chores. The girl crawled to the balcony and leaned out through the gaps in the balcony grill and fell down.It was the neighbours who spotted her lying on the ground in a pool of blood. She was rushed to NIMHANS, where she succumbed.

Renukesh who was at the workplace was informed about the incident and Chandra Layout police conducted a spot mahazar and took a statement from Ramachadra, the building owner.No one reportedly had noticed the little girl emerge through the gaps in the grills and fall to her death. A postmortem examination was conducted at Victoria Hospital. The police are yet to investigate the prevailing safety measures at the residential building.
