After a brief lull, winter bares its fangs

South-easterly winds drive temperature three notches southward.
Indore : After a week of mild weather condition with the winter chill failing to intensify attack, wind pattern again changed in city on Saturday, pulling down the temperature below the normal.
The day temperature in city went southward again by three degrees Celsius on the day. However, night temperature, which was hovering at 11 degrees Celsius about a week ago, on Saturday, went above the normal to decrease the cold at night.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius which was three degrees Celsius below the normal while the night temperature was recorded at 14.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.
Officials of regional meteorological department said there was a short spell of south-easterly winds which had changed the climatic conditions.
“The fluctuation in temperature on Saturday was the result of change in wind pattern which was blowing from the south-east part of the city. The temperature was dropping again due to the cold winds coming from the south eastern part,” met officials said.
The weathermen also added that with the change in wind pattern, the level of humidity is also increasing. However, the level of humidity is still low to make the condition foggy. Humidity on Saturday was recorded at 70 per cent in the morning while 65 per cent in the evening.
“According to prevailing weather condition, the morning remains hazy and some cold winds are blowing in the evening,” the officials added.
Meanwhile, in absence of the biting cold, citizens are thronging tourist spots in and around the city for a leisurely weekend.
“Current weather condition is very pleasant and thus, the best time to go out for a picnic. We have planned to witness the natural beauty around the city,” pharmacists Rituraj Dixit said.
Similarly, student Puneet Tiwari said, “This is the best time to go outing and clicking memories, as apart from absence of extreme weather, the exposure of natural light too is favourable for a nice photograph.”
