BSF, police collecting data of Pak relatives of citizens in border areas

Jaisalmer: The BSF and Jaisalmer police have started a campaign to prepare a database of relatives, especially those staying in Pakistan, of people in border areas to strengthen the national security. Under this campaign, information is being collected about the relatives as to when they migrated to Pakistan and where they are staying.

27 years ago Hasam Khan, resident of Sam area of Jaisalmer went to Pakistan and this year he came back through a fake passport and is now claiming to be a citizen of India. With such situations arising, the security agencies are now getting very strict. The police have started preparations to deport Khan back to Pakistan. The BSF had raised the issue leading to the preparation of the database about the relatives of people living in border areas in Pakistan.

S P Gaurav Yadav said all border police stations along with the BSF have started a door-to-door campaign to collect information about relatives staying in Pakistan of the people residing in border areas.

Information is being collected about where the relative is residing in Pakistan, who all are there in the family, since when the relative is residing in Pakistan, apart from the relative who all have migrated to Jaisalmer, in which year they migrated, when did they take citizenship of Pakistan and where all their relatives reside in India.

The database would also contain information about Pakistani women who have recently married to Indians or Indian youths marrying Pakistan girls.

S P said Hasam Khan had gone to Pakistan 27 years ago and came to India this year and the process is on to deport him back.


Yadav said Khan must have Pakistan citizenship because no person can stay for such a long duration without citizenship.


BSF IG Rajasthan frontier Anil Paliwal in this regard said BSF and police are keeping a watch on every activity at the border especially on border population and outsiders frequently coming to their homes.


There is good coordination between both agencies. He said after Khan's incident, both agencies are discussing about mechanism to foil such kind of activities at the valid entry points and to strengthen the system.
