Pimpri Chinchwad:
Alandi residents will receive twice-a-day water supply from Sunday afternoon. It will bring a difficult fortnight to an end, during which the town's residents had to go without enough water.
Vaijanta Umergikar, Alandi Municipal Council president, said: "The council has an old 2 MLD water treatment plant (WTP) that supplies the town, whose total demand is 5 MLD. Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) had built a new 10-MLD WTP this year. The trial run had begun and we had been getting 3 MLD of water for the past six months."
Umargikar added: "The new WTP developed problems due to a problem in its bed. Repair work has been completed and the town will receive normal water supply from tomorrow afternoon."
Sameer Bhumkar, chief executive officer (CEO), Alandi, said, "We supplied water once a day to gaothan areas in the last 15 days due to non-availability of water from the new WTP."
