COVENTRY, UK City of Culture 2021, offers a wonderful destination for a staycation city break – here's what you need to visit when you're there.

Coventry has been named the UK City of Culture 2021, in an initiative similar to the European Capital of Culture.
The central England city beat the cities of Swansea, Stoke-on-Trent and Sunderland to the enviable title.
“It’s huge and just an incredible result,” said David Burbidge, Coventry 2021 bid team chair, of the achievement.
“Most importantly, we are bringing this to the people of Coventry and they deserve this, so we are thrilled that we have been selected.

“Coventry is a city which has taken a lot of knocks over the years and this is the time for us to spring back and to show the world what we are made of.
“We will make the most of this title and make everybody proud of Coventry, it is a great place.”
What to do in Coventry
Herbert Art Gallery & Museum
This is a free to enter museum and art gallery run by registered Culture Coventry, attracting hundreds and thousands of visitors a year.

Coventry Transport Museum
A motor museum in the city centre which is home to a collection of British-made road transport.
The Lunt Roman Fort
Around three miles from the city centre, this is a reconstruction of a Roman fort from AD60.

War Memorial Park
A 48.5 hectares large park in southern Coventry, dedicated to the 2,587 locals who died in the First World War.
Visit to see the monument in the middle, amid landscaped gardens and shrubberies.
Coventry Cathedral
Also known as the Cathedral Church of St Michael, Coventry Cathedral was built after the first late 14th century structure was blitzed during World War Two.
Standing next to roofless remains of the first cathedral, it is a modernist design made from sandstone.
