Dimapur, Dec. 16 (EMN): Agitating ‘civil service aspirants’ have called off their ‘hunger-strike’ on Sat. following a reported assurance from Chief Minister TR Zeliang to ‘consider’ revocation of “26th October OM” during the next cabinet meeting scheduled to be held before Christmas.
This was informed through a press release from the Public Coordination Committee (PCC) spearheading the protest.
“In the meeting held on 16-12-17, the chief minister and his colleagues agreed to direct NPSC (Nagaland Public Service Commission) to declare answer keys in all stages of examinations (both civil service and technical exams), as per the demand put up by the PCC.
“The PCC, comprising of (sic) ACAUT, PSAN, CTAN and various other organisations, maintains that its hunger strike has only been suspended on the CM’s assurance. If the 26th October OM, which scrapped grade III posts from the purview of NPSC thereby threatening the dreams and aspirations of thousands of young and educated unemployed youths of Nagaland, is not revoked by the government of Nagaland, the PCC will resume its hunger strike with full intensity. Further, PCC sternly reminds all the departments to keep their respective departmental exams in abeyance until the issues are resolved,” it stated.
The PCC also expressed gratitude to the “youth organisation and residents of Phezoucha for graciously providing blankets, chairs, firewood, etc.,” and to all those who had who extended ‘material, moral and prayer support towards the cause’.
