GAYA: While disapproving of the tendency of the minority educational institutions to expect spoon-feeding by the government all the time, Magadh University (MU) VC Prof Qamar Ahsan has exhorted the minority colleges to attain self dependence through innovation and prudent management.

Speaking at a function organised at the MG College on Saturday, the VC said, "No institution can thrive without internal strength." He also released the college's magazine, 'Rang-e-Ghalib'.

The VC said besides acquiring text book knowledge, the students should go for communication skill development and application of technology. Tech- savvy students with good communication skill have greater chances of real-world success, he said.

Praising girl students for their determination despite odds at home and outside, the VC said the girls deserved social appreciation for their fighting spirit. Acknowledging the contribution of girls, he even invited one of the girl students to join him in lighting the traditional lamp.

The VC also decried the tendency among parents to give less importance to the education of girls. When it comes to daughter's education, even otherwise resourceful parents play miser, he regretted.

MG College secretary Syed Qaiser Sharfuddin and principal Khurshid Ahmad Khan welcomed the VC.
