Kota: A four-day-old infant girl on Friday morning was found abandoned in the bushes at Dalelpura under Kotwali police station area. Later in the day, she succumbed during treatment at Bundi district hospital. Police have lodged a case under relevant sections of IPC against unidentified parents of the infant and investigation is underway. The body has been placed in the mortuary of district hospital as the post-mortem could not be carried out due to doctor's strike.

"The infant was immediately rushed to the district hospital where she was admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) but she succumbed during treatment," said Bhagwan Singh, ASI, Bundi city Kotwali.

The infant died due to pneumonia caused by severe cold, the doctors said.

The body temperature of the girl had dropped considerably due to being exposed to cold in the field for long hours. Eventually, she died, said Dr Govind Gupta, paediatrician, district government hospital in Bundi.

The body has been placed in the mortuary of district hospital as post-mortem could not be carried out due to doctors' strike, said ASI Bhagwan Singh.

The municipal council authorities were informed about disposing the body but no response has been received from them so far, he added.
