Samajwadi Party members continued to create hurdle in the Legislative Council

Samajwadi Party (SP) members continued to create hurdle in the Legislative Council for the second day raising the deteriorating law and order issue and later staging a walkout from the House during the Zero Hour on Friday.

Raising the law and order issue during the Zero Hour, Samajwadi Party leader, Anand Bhaduria alleged that “Uttar Pradesh had become ‘balatkar’ (rape) Pradesh” and pointed that how the situation worsened on crime front. Another SP member, Sunil Kumar Sajan, highlighted the rape cases in Faizabad and Sarojninagar while attacking the government. Supporting the Party leader’s concern on law and order front, Leader of Opposition in the House, Ahmed Hasan said that the law and order situation in the State has deteriorated and everyone has to find a solution as common people is fast losing trust in the police force. He also claimed that state govenrment’s move to introduce UPCOCA is not going to give any positive result in improving the law and order situation.

Refuting the charges, deputy chief minister and Leader of the House Dinesh Sharma claimed that the police is doing its work and that the accused involved in rape cases pointed by SP members have been already arrested. He also cited how the Anti-Romeo squad had achieved great success in cracking down against those involved in harassment of the women. He also gave figures of those arrested by the squad. Sharma also highlighted above how anti-land mafia task force was working hard to free government land from encroachers. Deputy CM also presented figures to point that how the crime graph took a dip as far was sensational crime is concern during Yogi Adityanath’s regime. Samajwadi Party members including Hassan, however, trashed the data as fake and claimed that crime during Adityanath’s tenure surged by 40 per cent. They later staged a walk out raising slogan against the government. 

SP members along with Congress MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh and Deepak Singh, also raised the issue of rolling back the power hike and later unsatisfied with the reply of the government, SP members came in well shouting slogan against the government after which the proceeding of the House was called off till Monday morning.

Earlier, during the Question Hour also SP members had staged a walkout. Shashank Yadav (SP) said that stray cattle damaged the crops. Naresh Uttam (SP) added that stray cattle was the biggest menace for farmers.Replying to the concerns, Dinesh Sharma said, “The problem of stray cattle is not new. The government through Kanha Upvan Pariyojana is working for conservation of animals

in every district.” Dissatisfied SP members then walked out of the House. The Congress Members, Dinesh Pratap Singh and Deepak Singh, raised question demanding introduction of sports, agriculture in the subjects in the school’s syllabus.
