The first season featured 4 stories in two episodes. First episode included 'Satyanweshi' and 'Pather Kanta' which were penned in 1932 as the first stories of Byomkesh Bakshi series. The second episode featured 'Makorshar Rosh' and 'Arthamanartham' which had been penned in 1933 and are the fourth and fifth stories of the series respectively.
In season 2, the story they have chosen is 'Rokter Daag', which is very complex by nature, and will be completed in two episodes. Bandyopadhyay had penned this story in 1956, which is the sixteenth story in the Byomkesh Bakshi series.
Anirban said that it was really challenging to portray the same character under two different directors. Satyabati will be seen married in this season and as a matter of coincidence, it's her first release after her real life marriage.
Ridhima said, "I think it's a mere coincidence but when we were shooting then I was unmarried."
In 'Rokter Daag', the story revolves with a new and unique character Satyakaam, played by Aryann who had successfully portrayed Santu in Srijit's Kakababu films. It means audience will experience three satya namely 'Satya-bati', 'Satya-kaam' and obviously Byomkesh as 'Satya-nweshi'.
Byomkesh Bakshi has hit the TV screen and silver screen ample numerous times. In the time span of 38 years (1932-1970), Saradindu Bandyopadhyay wrote 32 stories on Byomkesh. Ace director Basu Chatterjee was the first to have made Byomkesh in hindi for television in which Rajit Kapoor had played the main lead.
In Bengali, Gaurav Chakrabarty had played the main lead and interestingly, Ridhima Ghosh there too, had played the role of his wife Satyabati. Director Soumik said that when he had been offered to direct Byomkesh, he tried not to fit into the shoes of earlier makers and consciously tried to make it in a different way.
After a massive success of the inaugural season of the first ever web series on Byomkesh, Hoichoi announced the launch of its season 2 in a unique way wherein the lead cast were in their on-screen attires and did a bit of live acting. The one-hour-long first episode of Byomkesh season 2 will start streaming on Hoichoi globally from Saturday, December 16th followed by the second episode on December 25th.
