A strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the Indonesian capital Jakarta and other cities on the country’s most populous island of Java, killing an unknown number of people.
The quake struck just before midnight (1700 GMT) on Friday.
Meantime, authorities issued a tsunami warning for parts of Java’s coastline.
However, the alert was lifted at 2:30 a.m. (1700 GMT) and residents were advised to return to their homes but seek temporary shelter if the dwellings aren’t safe.
