Man City news: Pep Guardiola’s side will break huge Manchester United record - Paul Merson

MANCHESTER CITY will break Manchester United’s record of the biggest win margin in Premier League history by putting 10 past an opponent.

Man City news: Guardiola's side will break Man Utd's biggest win record, says Merson

That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal star Paul Merson.

Manchester City are currently 11 points clear of rivals Manchester United and are unbeaten after 17 games.

Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 52 times, averaging over three goals a game, with the 7-2 win over Stoke their biggest.

But Merson thinks they can score more than that in a single match and break United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995.

I just think the longer this season goes on I think they’ll put nine or 10 past someone

Paul Merson on Man City

“We do get funny results at the end of the season,” Merson said when discussing if City can go the season unbeaten.

“We saw it last year with Palace when they went to Chelsea and went to Liverpool, who would have thought they’d win them games?

“I just think the longer this season goes on I think they’ll put nine or 10 past someone by the end. It’s going to be someone bang unlucky.

“These teams down the bottom, one: their confidence goes, two: they become even more tired and you get injuries.

Man City news: Merson reckons City will score 10 goals in a Premier League game this season

“This Manchester City team, you take three off and put three other world class players on. It’s just relentless.

“Let’s be honest, the Swansea goalie was the best player on the pitch the other night and they lost 4-0.

“It will happen, I just think it will happen because the thing with them as well is they are ruthless. They are ruthless.

“They’re not one of them teams who say ‘oh, we’ll leave it now’, they’ll just go bang, bang, bang. I watched the Stoke game, seven.”
