Rajkot: The police have cracked two-month-old murder case in which the decomposed body of Jusab Movar was found on the outskirts of Nanomota Mandha village, of Devbhoomi-Dwarka. Two persons — a woman and her paramour — have been arrested for the crime.

According to officials of Devbhumi Dwarka district police, which is probing the case, Jusab's body was found on October 3 in a completely decomposed condition. Also, the dogs had partly eaten the body. On the complaint of Jusab's brother Janmamad Mover, the police had registered a case of murder.

In his complaint, Janmamad had named Mariam Shama alias Sonal (25) and her paramour Bharat Reshiya (28) as suspects in the case, following which the police launched a manhunt for them. Meanwhile, the local crime branch (LCB) officials of Khambhalia police received a tip-off that Mariam and Bharat were to pass through Reliance Circle in Khambhalia, following which they kept a watch there. As soon as the accused duo arrived at the spot, they were caught on Friday night.

"During their interrogation, Mariam said Jusab had a one-sided love for her which she had spurned as she and Bharat were in love. This angered Jusab, who started threatening Mariam that he would kill Bharat if she did not marry him. When Mariam confided this to Bharat, both of them decided to bump Jusab off," an LCB official said.

"As per the conspiracy, Mariam bought chilli powder from Jamnagar and contacted Jusab and told him to drop her at her mother's place in Sayla. Near Adharnadham, Bharat joined them. There, Mariam threw chilli powder in Jusab's eyes and both Mariam and Bharat flashed out knives and stabbed Jusab to death. After killing him, they dumped Jusab's body on the outskirts of Nanomota Mandha village," the official added. Jusab's body was found a few days later in decomposed form.
