Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi has hit our cinema screens after a two-year wait since the The Force Awakens, the first film in the sequel trilogy. 

The films stars Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Risley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and of course the late Carrie Fisher. 

The film does not have a post-credits scene but fans should still stick around after the end of the movie.

Instead of a final post-credits scene, the film has a dedication to Carrie Fisher, who died in December 2016 after finishing filming for the Last Jedi. 

The Last Jedi is Fisher’s final film in the saga and at the end of the first set of credits but before the main scroll, a title card appears on the scene dedicating the film to her.

It reads: ‘“In Loving Memory of our Princess: Carrie Fisher.”

There had been rumours and discussion about whether Fisher would be digitally recreated to appear in Star Wars Episode IX because the story line focuses on Princess Leia.

However, it was decided the film would be unaltered and they would not use CGI to digitally recreate Fisher.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said: “Sadly, Carrie will not be in [Episode] 9.”

Fisher received a touching tribute at the 40 years of Star Wars panel at the Star Wars celebration in Orlando where a tribute video was debuted.

Fisher appeared in the first Star Wars film instalment Star Wars: Epsideo IV– A New Hope in 1977 along with Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker and Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

She appeared in all three original trilogy Skywalker Saga films and returned for the series’ relaunch in J.J Abrams’ The Force Awakens.

During the Star Wars celebration, Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd delivered a touching tribute to her mother. 

Lucas film president Kathleen Kennedy also made a touching tribute to the late Princess Leia.
