After plenty of speculation, the fourth celebrity judge for the upcoming season of The Voice has been announced.

US singer Joe Jonas — who found fame in The Jonas Brothers before joining DNCE — will be taking a seat alongside Kelly Rowland, Delta Goodrem and Boy George for the seventh season of Nine's reality show in 2018.

Jonas is replacing Seal, who's sat in the judge's chair across three series.

Speaking to Today, the pop star revealed how excited he was to be heading Down Under.

"I can't wait to go spend some time over by you guys and hopefully work on my tan and take this show home," he told the hosts, adding that he's a longtime fan of the show.

"It is an amazing team of people and there are so many incredible musicians. I am just thrilled to ... be a part of this show.

I got to have a little taste of it here in the States. I was mentoring with [US Voice judge] Adam Levine and I just loved it. So I can't wait to work with some of the amazing talent over there."

And a heads-up to Aussie Game Of Thrones fans — Jonas is planning on bringing fiancee Sophie Turner (who plays Sansa Stark in the series) along with him.

"I am very, very happy [to be engaged] and I will make sure she comes out to Australia and hangs out," he said.

Earlier this month, former judge Seal credited The Voice for "saving him" by giving him a purpose when he first joined in 2012.

"It was educational, always emotional, energy-driven, most of all I got to work with the incredible talent out there, which was always my favourite part," he told the Daily Telegraph.

"In many ways The Voice, when I first went on it, it kind of saved me in that I came to Australia at a time that I needed to believe in something really worthwhile. Those are my experiences with The Voice, and those are my memories, and I just want to keep it that way."

However, he has less-than-fond memories of his time working with Boy George during the 2017 season.

"Boy George has very little to do with my experience on The Voice. My focus was with the talent that you have in that incredible country.

''I didn't spend too much time thinking about Boy George, to be quite honest.''
