Nitish Kumar opens, lays stones of schemes worth Rs 686 crore

MADHUBANI/PATNA:Chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid stones of 523 development schemes worth Rs 686 crore in north Bihar's two villages which he visited during his 'Vikas Sameeksha Yatra' on Friday.

The CM inaugurated or laid stones of schemes worth Rs 461 crore in Muzaffarpur district's Jarang village and another Rs 225 crore in Madhubani district's Dhakjari village.

Addressing impressive gatherings of villagers at Jarang and Dhakjari later, Nitish asked the DMs concerned to ensure that the projects were completed in time. "Delay will not be tolerated," he said.

The CM reminded the government officers that he was in the habit of frequently touring the state to take people's feedback. "I must not get complaints," he said.

Recalling his 'Vikas Yatra' in 2009, the CM said at Jarang he had then stayed in tents put up in villages to get a better understanding of the problems being faced by villagers. "Eight years on, I am visiting all the 19 villages where I had camped, and I am glad to see improved power, electricity and road scenarios," he said.

Nitish also sought people's cooperation for effective enforcement of prohibition across the state.


The schemes that were inaugurated by the CM at Dhakjari included construction of a block office and residential quarters at Basopatti, ITI at Shivanagar in Benipatti and computer data centres in Pandaul, Ladania, Kalyani, Ghoghardiha, Khajauli, Jhanjharpur, Basopatti, Laukahi, Phulparas and Harlakhi blocks among others.


The schemes of which the stones were laid by him pertained to roads of rural works department in different subdivisions and electricity.


At the Dhakjari public meeting, Nitish appealed to the people to make the human chain on January 21 against child marriage and dowry a success.
