| | Dehradun | in Dehradun

Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj was shocked  to hear the complaint of  Duli Chand of Eidgah Mandi area of Dehradun  who told the Minister that his son and daughter in law have adopted Christianity and now they are allegedly forcing him to convert to Christianity. The Minister was listening to public grievances during his Janata Milan programme at state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office here on Thursday.

A sobbing 61-year-old Duli Chand told the minister that his son and daughter in law have thrown all idols of Hindu God and Goddess out of the house and now are threatening him to adopt Christianity or leave the house.

He also complained of being physically harassed in his own house and said that he is determined not to leave Hinduism till his last breath. A visibly moved Minister immediately made a telephonic call to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun but the call went unanswered. Maharaj then called the state Director General (DG) of police Anil Kumar Raturi and asked him to take cognisance on the matter.

Terming the matter as very serious he said that the state government would soon bring an anti religious conversion bill to check this practice.

A total of thirty people attended the Janata Milan programme on the day.
