PRESIDENT Donald Trump said he did not want to talk about a pardon for former national security adviser Michael Flynn “yet".

gave a cryptic answer to reporters when asked about whether he would consider pardoning former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

He said he would “see what happens” before deciding whether to pardon Mr Flynn, who is the first person inside the Trump Administration to be charged in the Russia investigation.

President Trump was speaking to journalists on the White House South Lawn Friday morning when he was asked whether he would consider a pardon for Michael Flynn.

Trump replied: “I don’t want to talk about pardons for Michael Flynn yet.

I don’t want to talk about pardons for Michael Flynn yet

President Trump

“We’ll see what happens. Let’s see.”

The President of the United States added that people are “very, very” angry over the Russia probe.

He said: “I can say this, when you look at what’s gone on with the FBI and the Justice Department, people are very, very angry.”

Former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty earlier this month to lying to the FBI about conversations with Russia's ambassador to the US.

He made two false statements about his interactions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in late December 2016, according to court documents.

Mr Flynn is cooperating with special counsel Robert Muller's office in their probe of Mr Trump campaign's role in Russian interference in the 2016 election.

White House lawyer, Ty Cobb, told CNN: "There is no consideration being given to pardoning Michael Flynn at the White House."

Mr Trump tweeted on the December 2: “I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”
