Jaipur: Lakayukta Justice S S Kothari has issued bailable warrant and show-cause notice with a penalty of Rs 5,000 against city
mayor Ashok Lahoti for non-appearance before the Loykayuta despite two summons for not constituting the various committees in the Jaipur Municipal Corporation.
The matter pertains to the construction of a five-storey building by a builder after obtaining permission from JMC for only two-storey on plot number C-100 at Tilak Nagar. On issuing notice against the builder by the JMC for violation the building plan by the builder, he approached the high court. The high court on February 6, 2012 directed that that builder's application at JMC for regularization of the building be disposed of within six weeks and then only the demolition be carried out.
Lokayukta observed that the application of the builder was being deliberately not disposed of by the JMC even after five years of the court order to save the errant builder.
Lokayukta had issued two summons to the Mayor but in vain. The first one was issued asking him to appear before the corruption watch dog on November 16 2017 on this issue but he neither appeared nor gave any reason for non- appearance. Lokayukta again summoned him on Dec 8 with show cause notice with Rs 2000 penalty but Mayor ignored the summons.
He was now asked to present personally at the Lokayukta on January 18 with what action taken on this case.
