USA TODAY's editorial board stirred up a hornet's nest Wednesday with an editorial declaring that President Trump is not only "not fit for office" but also not fit even to "clean the toilets in the planned Barack Obama Presidential Library."

The editorial was in reaction to Trump's twitter attack on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., that appeared to many to suggest that she would perform sexual favors for money.

One of the authors of that editorial joined us USATODAY's Cup of Politics podcast to explain why the editorial board chose to write that editorial and chose such scathing language.

"This is just the most appalling thing the president has done," said editorial co-author Saundra Torry, and the editorial board wrote the piece because "our hope would be for a better presidency."

Note that, as we discuss in the podcast, the news department has nothing to do with these editorials, and we didn't read it before it published.
