EastEnders fans baffled at epic Robbie Jackson gaffe: 'Such a schoolboy error'

EASTENDERS viewers were left totally confused by one of the storylines last night.

Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffen) and Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond) have been flirting with each other for weeks, but failed to make there romance official.

Becoming bored of their resistance to be a couple, Whitney Carter hatched a plan and lured the pair into the kitchen of the Queen Victoria before locking them inside.

As the pair realised that they had been trapped, fans became infuriated as Robbie stood next to a fire exit.

HATCHING A PLAN: Whitney decided to set Robbie and Donna up

As Robbie banged on the main door and moaned that he couldn't work on his big presentation, he failed to realise that he could walk out using the door that was mere inches from him.

While the door may have been unable to open, the Vic has gone through a number of inspections and a takeover in recent works, meaning it was likely to have been checked before.

Fans took to social media to point out Robbie's huge blunder.

SUCCESSFUL: Whitney seemed very pleased with herself

A fourth wrote: "That awkward moment when you're locked in a pub kitchen and don't notice the emergency fire exit door! Schoolboy error in Eastenders."

In the end Donna and Robbie nearly shared a kiss before Whitney accidentally interrupted, so it looks like her plan worked after all…

EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC.
