Pune: One more youth was arrested on Friday and a 16-year-old boy was detained in connection with the molestation of a minor girl on Ahmednagar Road on December 10 night.
The police took suo motu action after the video clip of the girl being molested by three persons went viral on social networking sites. "We arrested Akash Sathe (20) on Friday for shooting the video while his three friends were molesting the girl. The minor was involved in molesting," said senior inspector Rajendra Mulik of the Chandannagar police.
On Thursday, two suspects — Karan Hatangle (19) and Bankar Jadhav (19) — were arrested under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. "Hatangale and Jadhav were produced before the court on Friday and remanded in police custody till December 18," Mulik said.
He said the girl and the suspects knew each other. When she was on her way to meet her friend on Sunday, Hatangale, Jadhav and their minor accomplice started passing comments at her. When she resisted their advances, the trio chased her and beat her up in public.
"Sathe, who was also at the spot, recorded the entire incident through his cellphone and made it viral," Mulik said, adding that he would be produced before the court on Saturday.
