EastEnders spoilers: Jacqueline Jossa reveals Lauren Branning's Christmas exit

EASTENDERS fans, brace yourselves for an explosive Christmas…

The have teased that this year's Christmas special has some of the BBC One's soap's best scenes yet, with revealing the Branning family are set to be torn apart.

After teaming up with soap super villain James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde), Max Branning (superbly played by Jake Wood) finds himself penniless, friendless and desperate after James turns on him and leaves him with nothing.

Shacking up with former flame for Christmas, things are starting to look up for Max, until a secret sends shockwaves around the dinner table.

Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning, has teased these scenes will top those of 2007's Christmas special which saw Max and Stacey's secret affair exposed.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the 25-year-old explained: "The Christmas special doesn't disappoint.

"In fact, it's catastrophic, the worst one yet.

"We don't even get to sit down for Christmas dinner this year! The episodes are wicked."

Jacqueline added that while she's sad to be making her departure from the soap, she's excited to spend more time with two-year-old daughter Ella, who she shares with husband, star Dan Osbourne.

"I’m really looking forward to spending more time with Ella," she explained. "I do feel I’ve missed stuff these past two years."

Jacqueline is confirmed to be leaving the soap alongside Lorna Fitzgerald, that plays on-screen sister Abi Branning.

Lorna, 21, has also teased that soap fans are in for a real Christmas cracker of an episode.

She said: "I think it will be good and it will be explosive.

"It's nice as actresses that Jacqueline and I are leaving together, as you have someone to talk about it with and share the burden with."

We are sworn to secrecy about whether the soap sisters leave in the back of a black cab or in matching body bags.

But Lorna has teased the door may be left open for the character – and Abi might be madder than ever.

"I'd like her to be even crazier," she said. "It's way more fun to play."

Abi and Lauren's exit from the soap come only a year after Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) drowned together on New Year's Day.
