Chandigarh: Punjab BJP vice-president and party in-charge for Patiala municipal corporation Harjit Singh Grewal on Thursday submitted a complaint to the state election commissioner Jagpal Singh Sandhu about the alleged misuse of police and civil machinery in the city.

He demanded deployment of paramilitary forces for the Patiala MC elections.

Grewal, accompanied by Punjab BJP secretary Vineet Joshi, shared his concerns about the alleged malpractices being carried out by the ruling Congress in Patiala with the state election commissioner. They also complained that the Akali-BJP candidates were being pressurized and browbeaten by the Congress leaders.

The BJP leaders also alleged that policemen in Patiala were acting like the Congress workers and were threatening the opposition candidates. They also made a request to the state election commissioner to conduct elections in Patiala under the watchful eye of poll observers from the neighbouring states.
