Man held with charas worth Rs 20L

MUNGER: Jamui police seized four packets of Nepalese charas weighing 500 gram each from the bag of a person on Friday evening near Lakshmipur Mor under Lakshmipur police station in Jamui district.


Jamui SP Jayant Kant said that when the patrolling party of Lakshmipur police station was passing through the way between Lakshmipur and Kenuhat villages, one person was found seen sitting alone in the Yatri shed in a suspicious manner. When police approached near the shed, he tried to escape but was chased and arrested. "Four packets weighing 500 grams of Nepali charas were recovered from his possession from a bag which he was carrying with him," the SP said and added that estimated price of the seized charas in international market would be around Rs 20 lakh.


The person was arrested and identified as Prince Mishra, a resident of Naukadih village under Lakshmipur PS. Police said Prince confessed that he was a member of the gang of Tantan Mishra and also confessed that he was involved in the kidnapping of brick kiln merchant Gopal Mandal of Lakshmipur in July last who was released later. He also confessed his involvement in half-a-dozen other cases of kidnapping for ransom and extortion. TNN
